# Categories

> Organise your knowledge base, and choose who sees each part.

The **Knowledge** module is your team's handbook. **Knowledge › Categories** lists every category and its documents, and **Knowledge › Home** shows featured categories and quick links.

A category can be limited to certain roles. Only people with those roles see it.

Creating and editing categories needs the **Manage knowledge** permission.
